Bend, Oregon is an outdoor town, so we painted it that way. A large-format postcard mural for Greetings Tour with Melon James and Vivi Design Co., building a painterly forest as the background and filling the letter interiors with detailed scenes. The disciplines mix: spray paint for mood and coverage, stencil caps for precision, vinyl lettering for the solid geometry.
The culture of the place lives in the details. Deschutes River paddleboarders float beneath Cascade mountain views. Somewhere in there, tucked into the margins, is the artist and his dog on a paddleboard together. A private joke rendered in paint on a public wall, the kind of thing that makes a mural feel like it actually belongs to the people who painted it.
