Working with GID Development Group and Mural Arts & Consulting, American Mural designed and painted five connected murals around the Waterline Club’s indoor skatepark at Waterline Square on the Upper West Side. Each scene sits inside a painted break in the teal wall, turning the room into a series of views across New York City.
The murals combine graphic outlines with realistic painting. An elevated subway car opens onto a city block; another train frames a moonlit skyline. Times Square, a rooftop water tower, a Sabrett cart, an Anthora coffee cup, hanging sneakers, and King Kong appear across the room. The central panorama brings the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the Statue of Liberty into one sunset view.
The composition follows the movement of the skatepark. Wide views read across the ramps, while smaller details reveal themselves from the platforms and edges of the room.
